At just 2 days shy of 8 years building, today N14KR was officially ordained an airplane. An FAA inspector, called a Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) came to the airport to inspect and then issue an Airworthiness Certificate.

It’s been a long journey, but I enjoyed the build – most of the time. Generally I found the work relaxing and reduced my overall stress. Though there are many aspects that were very challenging and I’m hoping to not redo again!
I’m very grateful to my family for their patience, understanding, and just putting up with all things related to this build over such a long time. Many thanks to all the helpers along the way that lent an eye or a hand when they were needed. I tried to do it all myself, and likely 98% of the build was done solo. But that 2% I could not do myself and it’s a humbling reminder that its impossible to achieve most any long term goal completely solo.
First flight will happen…when it happens. I’m not scheduling or trying to rush it. I’m doing some additional flight training, planning out my first flight, and ensuring some helpers and good weather line up for that day.
